1-on-1 Coaching


Success Japan Coaching is a total custom-design session to address personal needs of a coachee. The learning occurs both during the live sessions and “between” the sessions by way of pre/post works to enable anchoring of learning in a coachee’s real life. Your investment is for the whole coaching period, not just when you meet the coach online.

  • Moving from Tokyo to Shanghai as the R&D Head of Asia-Pacific operations (a French director of R&D)

    ・The coachee’s requirement: learn management skills vis-à-vis local Chinese employees in one full day. Since this is his third international assignment, we designed China-specific pragmatic contents including preparation for pitfalls, building a deep bond and leadership influence.

    ・Sessions: Chinese need for growth & wealth, work values and leadership in China, burning message to penetrate Chinese heart, case studies: managing Chinese staff, connecting with Chinese, the first 90 days, assessing adaptability in China.

  • How to Qualify as CEO in an India-based Japanese Company(an Indian COO)

    ・The coachee’s requirement: learn foundations of

    Japanese management as well as the requirements of CEO in a traditional Japanese firm in order to increase the chance of being nominated as CEO. 7 sessions over 3 months.

    ・Sessions: mindset & behaviours of CEO, leading a Japanese team, HORENSO: Japanese art of staying aligned, mandala of Japanese industrial mind, three-way wins, organising principles, case studies, global SWOT, extensive pre/post works.

  • Increase Recognition of a Management in US (an American VP of Sales)

    ・The coachee’s requirement: advice of what to do to increase  recognition and trust of a Japanese management in US office.

    He chose a combination of two webinars and 1-on-1 coaching.

    ・Sessions: how to close distance with Japanese, behaviours Japanese managers frown upon, horenso skills, negotiation and sales styles trusted by Japanese, strategic advice of how to earn trust, gain external support and change of employment contract.

Anchoring Learning in Your Real Life

・Before starting the session, Success Japan coaches conduct pre-assessment and interviews in order to locate the core issue that needs to be addressed. Based on its findings, they custom design the contents to guide the coachee in stages to understand where they stand, notice areas for improvement, and take actions for turnaround.
・Coaching topics range from relationship issues to getting recognition by a superior to dispute resolutions in a company, Japanese or non-Japanese. In order to rise to a new stage and move forward, it is highly effective to look at oneself from another’s eyes.
